Fattoria Rignana is one of my favorite wineries in the Chianti Classico zone. I have visited this property several times, including during the harvest (vendemmia), and have gotten to know the always accommodating proprietor Cosimo Gericke over the last several years. They make a full range of wines, including a delightfully refreshing rosato, as well as olive oil.
But most importantly, they make a fantastic Chianti Classico, and Chianti Classico Riserva. Cosimo believes in old world traditions, and his Chianti Classico is a 85/15 Sangiovese/Canaiolo blend. Year after year it has amazingly bright and concentrated fruit and is perfectly paired with all types of flavorful Tuscan dishes. And Rignana has also recently become an organic farm - the fermentation is all natural, and there are no extra chemicals used during the growing season. If you can find anything in the U.S. from Rignana, don't hesitate to try it.
My husband and I went to FATTORIA DI RIGNANA on our honeymood and have a few bottles left of the classico 2003 and would love to buy more wine from this wonderful winery. Do you have any idea where we can purchase the 2003 or 2004 classico online?
Thank you so much for your help!
Hi Georgia,
Unfortunately I don't think there is any Rignana in the states at the moment. We are trying to help them begin a direct to consumer campaign. I will check for you this week though (I will be down there for the harvest) and let you know for sure.
