This is a little late for some of the things listed, but this time of the year is full of wine events in and around Florence. We already mentioned the Alle Corti del Vino which we attended last week, but here are several others happening this weekend and into June:
Montespertoli Wine Festival May 23 to 31 - 52nd edition of this week long event, featuring the wines of the Montespertoli DOCG. Toscanello d'Oro May 28 to June 2 - the 40th edition of this event featuring wine from around the Pontassieve area. Di Vini Profumi (Heavenly Aromas Wine Festival) May 29 - 30, in Prato and Carmignano, no official website but more info is here (in Italian) or call 057 4471070. Anteprima Vini Lucca - celebrating the top wines from the Tuscan coast areas from Massa Carrara to Grosseto in the heart of Lucca (this is the tasting I am hoping to make this afternoon!). Classico è - a new event sub-titled "8 days of wine and culture", Classico è (is) a chance to visit places usually closed to the public. Classico is the pleasure of drinking a glass of wine in the piazzas of Chianti or amidst the barrels of an ancient cellar, Classico is an experience to preserve and repeat through time. You also get a chance to visit a place like Castello di Ama, which is usually closed to the general public.
Cantine aperte - May 31 - annual open cellars day in Tuscany, with hundreds of wineries open to the public.
